Turquoise & Silver Pendant, Pete Sierra, Navajo
About the Item
This signed, handmade pendant was created in sterling silver, turquoise, bone, and coral by noted Navajo artist, Pete Sierra. Sierra, who studied under Hopi artist Charles Loloma, has created his own highly sought-after style.
This gorgeous and distinctive one-of-a-kind authentic Navajo artist piece is composed of bars of (most likely Kingman) turquoise gems, each hand-carved, polished, and cobblestone-set into the gleaming silver mounting. A single bar of antique bone and one square of coral complete the design.
On the reverse is the artist's signature. This beautiful pendant does not ship with a chain.

Turquoise & Silver Ring American, Circa 1920s
Located in Southbury, CT
This sleek, graphic turquoise and silver ring was created near the 1920s, and is consistent in design, quality, and materials to rings created by the Zuni nation; however the ring is not signed. And therefore, it cannot be sold as "Native American."
Some people prefer to retain the "patina" almost always encountered on rings created by Native Americans. But this has always puzzled me. When Queen Elizabeth toured Africa and wore her favorite diamond crown, that crown was thoroughly cleaned and polished. I don't recall ever seeing Frank Ghery or Elsa Peretti or Paloma Picasso silver jewelry...

The true beauty of this carved jadeite jade pendant is difficult to capture in photographs; more difficult still to describe in words. Carved by hand in the form of an entangled squash blossom, the jade stone is highly translucent; the light lavender jade is complemented by pale yellow. When light strikes the stone at an angle and not from behind, the surface of the jade displays...
