About the Item
A striking piece of early 20th-century Navajo artistry, this vintage Navajo necklace is a fine example of traditional sand-cast silverwork and hand craftmanship from the 1930s - 1940s.
The bold sterling silver Naja pendant measures approximately 2" x 1 3/4" and features a bezel-set oval turquoise cabochon (9.5mm x 8.2mm) with natural pyrite flecks, adding depth and character to the stone. The classic crescent-shaped Naja form, central to Navajo and Southwestern jewelry design, is finely detailed and beautifully balanced. It weighs 41 grams.
The pendant is suspended from a 25" sterling silver necklace composed of hand-carved Hogan beads and oblong beads, each one slightly varied in shape, reflecting their hand-forged origins. The strand is completed with a hand made silver hook and eye clasp ensuring authenticity and continuity of design throughout the piece.
This necklace embodies the timeless beauty of Navajo silversmithing traditions and makes an exceptional addition to any Southwestern jewelry collection. Its elegant presence can be worn as a statement piece or cherished as a collectible work of Native American art.
