Wellendorff Pearl Diamond 18 Karat Yellow Gold Necklace
About the Item
A Wellendorff pearl and diamond 18 karat yellow gold necklace, circa 1980
This vintage multistrand necklace is composed of 14 strands half of them terminating in a claw set round brilliant cut diamond.
The necklace is set three quarters of the way down with a stylized motif of two cultured baroque pear shaped pearls of 12mm each and further round brilliant cut diamond accents of 0.57cts in total approximately, assessed as G colour, VS1 clarity.
Finished with a concealed clasp fitting to its reverse.
The gold strands are exceptionally soft and smooth against skin, produced using a technique developed over 40 years ago by Hanspeter Wellendorff in Germany whereby thin gold stands of gold are wrapped around by hand many times to create a necklace that is as luxurious and comfortable as it is stylish.
Featuring the iconic white gold charm engraved 'W' for Wellendorff set with a single round brilliant cut diamond.
Wellendorff was established in Germany 1893 by Ernst Alexander Wellendorff and is now run by his great-great-grandchildren still very much a family business!
