About the Item

Our very rare brass cased naval bridge / desk clock by Waltham Watch Co. USA is manually wound (7 jewel) with an eight day power reserve. These type were fitted for local time keeping whilst at sea, on significant vessels in the Royal Navy. This is presented in superb condition given its age, which we date to c.1930 (serial 20 ****). Importantly the key (for case opening) is present, the dial, whilst patinated is in, again superb condition, the blue coloured hands without defect. It measures approx 120mm high, 110mm wide and up to 60mm deep, deigned to be fitted at an angle. Of important note, a very similar Waltham forms part of the Royal Museums Greenwich collection, from HMS Defender. Whilst we do not have detail of which vessel this was originally fitted to, it would seem reasonable to assume it would have had similar at sea experience.
