White Jade Twin Fish, Qing Dynasty
About the Item
The two fish curling towards each other make a balanced, symmetrical piece, like yin and yang. They form a pendant that can be used as an ornament or toggle. The “mutton fat” white jade is highly polished.
A similar piece can be seen in Later Chinese Jades: Ming Dynasty to Early Twentieth Century, p. 272. Published by Asian Art Museum, San Fransisco. Image attached.
Later Chinese Jades explains that “fish, pronounced yu, is a homonym for ‘abundance’. In Chinese art, the motif of a pair of fish not only means ‘double abundance’ but also stands for conjugal bliss and fertility, because fish spawn numerous eggs.”

White and Russet Jade Horse, Qing Dynasty
By Artistian Made
Located in San Diego, CA
A resting horse has been carved from white jade with patches of russet. The long muscular body rests on four bent legs, and the head is turned around.
The mane is embellished with long striated locks extending down the back of the neck, and the tail is rendered similarly.
Note: Our light source makes some of the russet hues on the horse appear yellow; however, there is no yellow on the horse body, there is russet color on his hairs.
