A late Victorian diamond-set tiara, consisting of four openwork foliate design sections graduating from the centre, further foliate decorations between each section, the central motif set with an old European-cut diamond estimated to weigh 1 carat, the old cut diamonds estimated to weigh a further total of 6.5 carats, all set in silver to yellow gold mount, converting to a necklace with detachable back section set with diamonds weighing a further total of 0.95 carats, circa 1890, measuring 13 x 5 cm, gross weight 51.1 grams.
This antique tiara is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, the tiara tested as 9ct gold and silver, the frame silver gilt.
This marvellous and regal late Victorian diamond-set tiara is part of the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the distinguished London jewellers by royal appointment to His Majesty the King. The tiara showcases a sophisticated design with four intricately crafted foliate sections that gracefully transition from the centre.
