Antique Georgian 1789 22K Yellow Gold White Enamel Mourning Ring

About the Item

A Georgian enamel, and yellow gold ring, in 22 karat yellow gold. My favourite thing about this Georgian Yellow Gold and White Enamel Mourning Ring is the beautiful enamel work. What’s yours? Perhaps the meaningful dedication? Or the buttery yellow gold? This sentimental ring is crafted in rich, buttery yellow gold. The band is carved with a dedication, in relief, reading “Revd. Roger Cole A.M. OB 24 Jan 1789 AE 37”. Reverend Roger Cole was the rector of Farlington in Hampshire. The band is adorned with white enamel. The enamel has wear, as would be expected with a ring of this age but is majoritarily present. The band has a millegrain detail to each edge. The ring is otherwise in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age. The band measures 3.3mm wide. The ring rises 1.5mm off the finger. Ring size: UK – M.5 US – 6 ½ EU – 53 mm Gross weight: 4.1g Hallmarks: Lion mark denoting 22 karat gold, illegible mark, bears makers mark “I.F”, tests as 22 karat gold, circa 1789
