About the Item
We love this unusual and extremely rare 18ct gold Victorian snake ring with a cushion cut diamond head and studded with pave turquoise. It was made during the Darwin years when nature was a often source for fashion. Since ancient times snakes have been seen as a symbol for “Eternal love” and "Eternal life" so they were and still are often used as wedding rings, commitment rings or engagement rings.
Snake rings became popular in England when Queen Victoria received an emerald snake ring as her engagement ring from her beloved Prince Albert. Today snake rings are equally popular among both men and women. The ring is a size 6.5. It can be sized smaller but cannot be made larger.
