Inverted Oval Halo Band in Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, Diamonds and Yellow Gold
About the Item
Eytan Brandes designed and created this sleek halo mounting in the late 70s for a client who later returned the ring in partial payment toward a more elaborate project. After removing the original stone, the mounting sat in our safe for years, but a couple of years ago, Eytan reset the ring with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise.
The stones are set on a gracefully contoured platform raised just slightly over the underlying band -- a subtle and unexpected detail.
The inverted oval turquoise cabochon is 11mm x 5mm, and, because it's only about 2mm thick, less than a carat in weight. It was cut from a large rock Eytan bought in the 1970s when the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Arizona was still open.* The natural, untreated color is spectacular.
The 19 diamonds are pavé-set, about 1.5mm each and are rated H color and VS1-VS2 clarity. The total diamond weight is about 0.19 carats.
Signed "Eytan" by Eytan Brandes and stamped "14K."
The total weight of the ring is 6.5 grams, of which about 0.20 grams can be attributed to the stones.
Currently a size 5.5. This ring can't really be sized up except by stretching (and then only by a half size). It can be sized down to about a 3.5. We will resize free of charge within that range for full-price buyers.
*The mine has reopened but supplies of matrix-free stone are dwindling and authentic, untreated stones remain expensive and hard-to-find.
