Amor Vincit Omnia (means love conquers all)
Portraits of two spouses facing one another, was often set on a bronze, or silver or gold ring and used as a seal. Rings engraved with the busts of married couples became very fashionable in the 5th and 6th Century throughout the Roman Empire. Typically the portraits are generic and not particularly realistic, although often a fashionable hairstyle or jewellery is often depicted to show the status of the couple.
