About the Item
An Edwardian sapphire, diamond, and yellow gold ring, comprising one large cushion shaped sapphire, two round cut sapphires, two old European cut diamonds, and ten rose cut diamonds, in 18 karat yellow gold.
This beautiful ring is set to the centre with a large, cushion-shaped blue sapphire. The sapphire is a luxurious, strong, velvety blue, with good clarity. The central sapphire is flanked by a pair of glorious old European cut diamonds. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another, with good clarity, cut and colour. The magnificent diamonds are further flanked by a pair of round cut blue sapphires. Glittering rose cut diamonds intersperse the sapphires and diamonds, their deep sparkle accentuating the bright diamonds and velvet sapphires. The diamonds and sapphires are raised on an elegant, hand-carved, scrolled gallery, leading to a band of plain, polished yellow gold. The ring is in great condition. The central sapphire has a small amount of wear to the crown facets, as would be expected in a ring of this age. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The setting of the ring measures 6.3mm high, and 21mm wide. The band measures 2mm wide at the back. The ring rises 4.7mm off the finger.
