We are delighted to offer this enchanting antique 15ct gold emerald, garnet and pearl ring made in the Victorian era c.1880. The ring presents a suffragette theme with one central emerald flanked by the other gemstones which not only are symbolic but also exude opulence and vibrancy. The usage of green, violet and white gems was symbolic and a sign of supporting the English suffrage movement in the early 1900s. These three colours signify the following key virtues: Green for Hope, White for Purity and Violet for Royalty, which also forms an acrostic phrase “Give Women Votes”. In addition to the selection of gemstones, its marvellous Victorian craftsmanship and quality can be fully appreciated upon viewing the shoulders of the ring on which fine hand-engraved scrolls have been adorned. Overall, a delightful piece of Victorian jewellery which can be worn as a single piece or amongst other accessories. A splendid gift for someone special or as an indulgent present for yourself, this ring most certainly distinguishes itself from contemporary pieces and is the perfect addition for the discerning antique lover. The ring is unmarked as is common with articles of this period and as such we have tested it indicating 15ct gold.
