About the Item
An antique diamond and rose gold ring, comprising seven old mine cut diamonds, set in 9 karat rose gold, to a band of 9 karat rose gold.
This show-stopping ring is set to the centre with a large, old mine cut diamond. The diamond is bright and sparkly, with glorious chunky facets and a cushion shape. The diamond is held within a silver setting, the shining white metal aiding sparkle and bringing out the best in the diamond. The central diamond is surrounded 6 further old mine cut diamonds, all of which are different shapes and sizes, adding to the beautiful antique character of this ring. The chunky old mine cut diamonds create the petals of the flower, and they are held within elegant, looping, buttercup-like settings, which allow plenty of light to pass through. The shoulders of the ring are substantial, and reeded, and lead to a reeded band of polished rosy toned gold, which is much less red and much softer than the rose gold of today. Unusually, this ring is in a lower carat gold, making the ring itself much harder wearing than its 18 karat gold counterparts. The ring is in good condition, with some wear to the settings of the diamonds, as would be expected for a ring of this age, but the diamonds are well held. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The head of the ring measures 14.5mm long, and 14.5mm wide. The band measures 2.5mm wide at the back.
