About the Item

It is rare to find antique engagement rings with diamonds of this size: this ring, made entirely of platinum, holds an emerald-cut diamond of just over 5 carats. The diamond has been graded by a renowned gemological institute as being of Top Crystal+ (I) colour, with just small inclusions (si) visible under the loupe and invisible to the naked eye. Due to its impressive size, its brilliance and fire are especially vivid, the large facets reflecting the light beautifully. Two baguette-cut diamonds flank the large central stone. The diamonds are set in an elegant ring typical of the Art Déco taste of the 1930s, made entirely of platinum – the most luxurious metal available at the time of its making. If viewed from above, the setting almost disappears, letting the diamonds take over. Yet if viewed from the side, the ring reveals a secret: the platinum gallery holding the large central diamond is designed with a heart-shaped detail, making this piece perfectly suitable as an engagement ring. As the hardest material known, the diamond has long symbolised eternity, supporting the romantic meaning.
