15K Gold Early Victorian Flower Ring with Garnet, Emeralds, and Pearls

About the Item

Here at Kirsten’s Corner, we have a sweet spot for these early Victorian flower rings. This 15k gold ring is reminiscent of a Forget-Me-Not flower, a popular motif in the Victorian era. The pearl flower petals in the ring represent tears and capture the romance in our hearts. A central garnet sits delicately amidst a lacy background, while two Old Emerald Cut emeralds add a pop of green to each side of the flower. Each stone is prong set into an early Victorian setting that was traditional for these types of rings. Along the sides is scrolling foliate, hand detailed to look like leaves. A lovely engraving goes all the way around the band of the ring, even detailing the edges of the band. Circa 1850, this is a very old ring that conveys sentimentality and everlasting love. The garnet measures 3 x 3.5 mm; the emeralds measure approximately 2.25- 2.5 mm; the six pearls are approximately 3 mm. The ring is unmarked but tests as 15k. It weighs 2.65 grams. The flower measures 1/2” across. The band is 1.68 mm wide. Ring size 6.75. Because engraving covers the entirety of the band, we recommend not resizing this ring to protect its integrity.

15k Gold Art Nouveau Plique-à-jour Diamond and Pearl Necklace
By Mappin Brothers
Located in Venice, CA
A classic Art Nouveau design, this 15k rose gold necklace features stunning plique-à-jour, Rose Cut diamonds, and beautiful pearls. The centerpiece of the necklace is articulated, hinged in two places so that the flower and pearl drops dangle freely. Three plique-à-jour leaves are translucent—the loveliest matte soft green that fades into subtle purple highlights, clearly done by a master. Each cell of the leaf is filled with plique, with a white metal (platinum or white gold) creating contrast in the center of the leaf. Inside are a channel of bead set Rose Cut diamonds. A flower is suspended from the leaves, with multi-tones of peach to pale yellow that glow against the gold, with a prong-set diamond as its piston. The design work loops over, turning the bail into a scrolling foliate. The 15k gold appears rosy, as it has an incredible patina that shimmers with various hues of pink, gold, and green. “Plique-à-jour” translates from French as “letting in daylight” and is a charming technique used in jewelry throughout the 20th century. To create this effect, colored, transparent enamel is suspended between gold backless cells to allow light to illuminate the piece with vibrant colors, similar to a stained glass window. The flower hangs from a 15k gold classic alternating link chain...

9K Gold Edwardian Snake Ring with Rhodolite Garnets
Located in Venice, CA
This is a classic 9k gold snake ring that has two beautiful rhodolite garnets in the head of each snake. The snake heads interlock and the garnets are bead set into a mount that are carved to look like tulips. The oval rhodolite garnets are a deep purple pink and have a beautiful fire to their rich, reddish purple hue. The snakes have a cute mouth detail—almost like a smile—and their tails appear on each side of the ring. The wide ring band is ribbed into four sections that intertwine with the bodies of the snakes. Snakes are a popular motif in contemporary jewelry trends, but date back to the Victorian era, when Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a...

18K Gold Early Victorian Diamond Trilogy Ring with Blue Enamel Details
Located in Venice, CA
This 18k gold early Victorian ring features three Old Mind Cut diamonds encased in blue enamel square details. The diamonds are housed in a square, carved out setting in the 18k gold that creates a gorgeous contrast against the navy blue. The center square is larger, with a punched out format that raises it a layer above the rest of the ring. The deep blue enamel creates a ribbonlike detail on each end of the design. The diamonds are bead set, which enhances their sparkle and gives the visual illusion that they are square-shaped. At a larger size of 10.5, this makes a great unisex ring, ideal for a man or a woman’s middle finger. The ring contains approximately 1/3 of a carat of natural antique diamonds. The center diamond is 3.5 mm, and two side diamonds are 2.5 mm. All three diamonds are Old Mine Cut with chunky shape and large culets. The diamonds are bright and lively, H-I in color, SL2 in clarity. The ring is marked with 18CT and the maker’s mark of “G.TS”. The center square is 3/8” wide and the band tapers down to 3/16” on the bottom. The ring weighs 6.3 grams. Ring size 10.5; due to the enamel, we do not recommend resizing. This could make a beautiful wedding band but is also perfect for anyone who wants a treasured piece of the past. We currently have a women’s ring in our collection that makes a beautiful counterpart to this ring and could make a matching pair of wedding rings.
