About the Item

This graceful and perfectly proportioned 18K yellow gold, platinum, and diamond ring hosts a pair of luminous cultured saltwater Akoya pearls. The pearls measure 7.54mm and 7.64mm, so they are nearly a perfect size match. One is cream, the other silver. Both have pink and green overtone. When this ring was created just after the turn of the previous century (circa 1905), cultured pearls were by no means ubiquitous as they are today. Rather, they represented the impossible -somehow made possible. They were nature, perfected. And they reflected the era's desire to "tame" the natural world. Crafted by hand in 18K yellow gold, the two tapered ends of the band present almost as long and slender fronds, topped with platinum and set on each side by four full-cut small diamonds. The platinum has milgrain detailing. The remainder of the band is smooth except for the three marks on one side. Unfortunately,

Imperial Topaz & Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5
Located in Southbury, CT
This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...

Jade & Pearl Ring Certified Untreated
Located in Southbury, CT
A large oval cabochon of translucent seafoam green jadeite jade is surrounded by 16 luminous natural pearls in this ever-stylish 14K white gold halo ring from the early 1950s. The jade stone is natural and untreated and displays a high degree of translucency. Which is why this jade ring looks spectacular whether it is in direct sunshine, or just barely illuminated by the waning light of a nearby window. The luminous jade stone changes its appearance throughout the day, as the light changes. The jade cabochon measures 14.5mm x 9.19mm Seafoam green was pointedly on-trend in the 1950s when this ring was hand-fabricated. The pearls surrounding the jade are at least partially drilled —possibly they are drilled all the way through; I can't tell because of how they are set in the mounting. At least one and probably all of the pearls are natural, un-cultured saltwater pearls. They are older than the ring itself. It's not unusual to encounter repurposed jewelry...
