Antique Snake Ring Ruby Eyes Three Dimensional Gold
About the Item
A wonderful antique Snake Ring with two Ruby Eyes in 9 Karat Gold. The stunning fully modeled three dimensional snake is depicted coiled around itself and raising its glorious head. The eyes are beautiful round Rubies. The face of the snake has fantastic engraved details and the engraving continues to create the scales of the snake's body. The gold is a beautiful warm 9 Karat Gold. The design work on the snake ring is dramatic and very special.
It is extremely rare to find these early snake jewels and we are so excited when we do! And snake jewelry is all the rage today. The snake motif has been in use since antiquity. Eternal love, protection and perpetual regeneration are just a few of the myriad of meanings attributed to the snake. Queen Victoria chose a snake ring to mark her engagement to Albert. Consequently, the snake became a popular Victorian romantic image used quite frequently in jewelry.
It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth, wisdom and love.
