C1885 Shakudo Ring w bat of mixed metals mounted to a band of bone

About the Item

Our Shakudo ring depicts a bat mounted on a ring of bone. The Shakudo craft originated in Japan during the Samurai period. Talented artists made ornaments to adorn arms and armament. When the Samurai period ended in the 1880ies, these artists began making jewelry, at times using pieces already decorating armor.
