About the Item

Period: circa 1690
 Ring size: 9.5
The ring, dating back to the last decade of the 17th century, is made up of a cabochon-cut rock crystal which, when raised, reveals an internal compartment, presumably intended to contain a relic or a protective amulet. Furthermore, the ring is embellished with a meticulous chiseled foliage decoration that adorns the stem. The peculiarity of this ring, which distinguishes it from the type of poison rings, lies in the use of rock crystal, a material widely used in the religious field for its symbolic properties of purification and spiritual elevation, as well as used in jewelery for the creation of artefacts intended for the conservation of protective relics or talismans.
