Vintage Early 1900s Silver Amber Ring from Latvia
About the Item
Rare amber ring handcrafted in Latvia. This unique ring was a part of my late grandmothers robust collection of amber jewelry. She brought the pieces over on a boat while escaping Russian occupation in Latvia after World War 2. This early amber jewelry is quite rare in its traditional Latvian jewelry craftsmanship and all one of a kind. The ring has not been cleaned whatsoever and the oxidation of the metal adds a darkened patina in crevices and add's to the unique style of the traditional Latvian jewelry.
Baltic amber is 34-48 million years old (Seyfullah et al. 2018), having been deposited during the Lutetian stage of the Middle Eocene. The main deposits of Baltic amber are on the southern shores of the Baltic Sea.
Baltic amber, also known as "the pearl of The Baltic Sea" is know for its warmth and healing qualities.
