About the Item
The jasper intaglio is attributable to the Roman production of the 2nd century and has an engraving depicting Minerva, goddess of wisdom and right war, as well as protector of artisans thanks to the cult that spread among the Etruscans. Here the goddess is presented with the attributes that make her typically recognizable, including the crested helmet, a long spear that connotes her as a warrior goddess and protector and, finally, a pàtera (or phiale), which is a cup used to offer drinks during ritual sacrifices.

Roman Intaglio Carnelian Ring
Located in New Orleans, LA
Exceptionally rare and fashioned in the 2nd or 3rd century CE, the carved carnelian gemstone at the center of this ring hails from the Roman Empire.
