Although Mourning Jewelry has a long & fascinating history, going back to as far as Middle Ages, its popularity reached its peak during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901). ~ This extraordinary piece is a Mourning (Memorial) Ring, dating back to Victorian period - circa 1884 yet it's in beautiful condition Of English provenance, it's meticulously crafted in 18K Yellow Gold, decorated in black enamel & adorned with a 0.20ct old-European cut diamond, of cushion shape & good colour & clarity set within the starburst gold frame, surrounded by the most intricate fleur-de-lis pattern, signifying perfection, light and life... ~ The piece is bearing hallmarks: Maker’s mark - T.E. Crown (for gold) 18 (fineness) Leopard’s head (London Assay Office) Letter date - t (c1884) Bearing letters: In Memory Of (on outside of shank) & inscription (on inside): T.R. Dec 3rd 1884 Total item’s weight: 4.5gr.
