Antique Late Victorian Sapphire and Diamond 14 Karat Yellow Gold Statement Ring
About the Item
This 14 karat yellow gold antique, circa 1890, late Victorian ring features a straightforward three stone style. The center oval faceted sapphire weighs approximately 0.91 carat and has a lovely deep rich blue color and is flanked on each side by one old-European cut diamond with a total weight of approximately 1.01 carat for the two. They are G - H color and J - K color grades, respectively, with VS1 - VS2 clarity grade. The scintillation emanating from the old European-cut diamonds is like a fire that mesmerizes the eye. The center sapphire is secured with six prongs and the side diamonds are also secured with six prongs, all in crown-like scooped settings. The shank of the ring measures approximately 2.24mm x 1.27mm at shoulders tapering to .96mm x .99mm at bottom of shank; the ring is a finger size 6 and weighs 2.7 grams. This ring rises just shy of 1/4" off the finger.
