Antique Victorian T-Bar Box Pocket Watch Tassel Chain
About the Item
An antique Victorian short T-bar box pocket watch chain set with a tassel pendant. The vest T-bar, box chain and the lovely tassel adorned with rose flowers on top are made of 14 karat gold. The box chain is also called "Venetian" chain, thanks to its origins in artisanal Venetian jewelry makers, who made fine necklaces for the Italian elite as early as the 6th century.
Fobs were used by wealthy Georgian and Victorian gentlemen. Often a fob would hold a pocket watch swung on a chain attached to the vest buttonhole on the other side of the vest.
Fob pendants are precious objects or ornaments made of metal, precious stones or other materials that existed in ancient times. In the second half of the 18th century, a new generation of amulets came into fashion, worn as a pendant and ornamental pendant on the watch strap or watch chain.
The fob chain is in good condition and of good quality. The T-bar is dented on the end of the bar. Hallmarks present and visible. Size in length 7.6 cm and width 3.1 cm. Weight 4.65 grams.
The chain will be gift-wrapped in a black and gold jewelry box.

An exceptional antique Georgian pocket watch key, made of pink gold. The pink gold key is decorated and surrounded by detailed hollow curled figures on its border which features delicate decorative engravings on both sides. For the presentation behind the glass human hair is used to create a highly detailed floral design with white accented make it look like pearls. The shrine is probably made of bone and draped with these 'pearls', overall in excellent condition.
The two arrowed hearts - depicting above the shrine - are a sign of love, the love between two people. Watched by The All Seeing Eye enclosed in a triangle surrounded by a ray of light. The eye also known as the Masonic Eye or Eye of Providence, is up there as one of the most recognized Freemason symbols. On the other side a lock of hair is beautifully displayed with the initials 'JAvJ'. The presentation has been impeccably preserved beneath the glass.
