Antique Enamel Cherub Pocket Watch of 18k Gold
About the Item
Exquisite Antique Pocket Watch: This exceptional French pocket watch, crafted in 18k gold, is a true treasure from the late 19th century (circa 1880-1890). The highlight of this piece is an enamel scene featuring a cherubic child draped in a cloth, gracefully perched on a swing. The child holds a bird, while another bird flutters nearby. Garlands of tiny rose-cut diamond accents add a touch of sparkle to the design. The reverse side of the watch features the engraved initials “MA,” and the interior bears the inscription “Remontoir Cylindre 10 Rubis Qualite Supérieure No 50500,” reflecting the superior craftsmanship of this piece.
The watch measures 2 inches from the top of the bail to bottom by 1.3 inches wide and weighs 28.58 grams. It is in great condition, and does appear to keep time when wound.
The metal content of this pocket watch was verified via XRF (x ray analysis) and with jeweler's acids.
