Set of Five Joe Colombo '5-in-1' glass vases by Karakter Italian industrial designer Joe Colombo pursued a career in painting and sculpture before he transitioned to design in the 1950s. Such is the case with 5-in-1, a set of mouth-blown glasses that neatly intertwine. Featuring five pieces – originally intended as a cognac class, a white wine glass, a red wine glass, a grappa...

Miguel Milá Mid Century Modern Aplique Lamp, circa 1950
By Miguel Milà
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Aplique lamp designed by Miguel Mila´. Manufactured by Tramo (Spain), circa 1960. Wood structure and plastic lampshade. In good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Miguel Mila´represents like no other person Spanish contemporary design. He belongs to the Pioneer's generation of the 1950s and has seen how many of his pieces of furniture and lamps have become real classics. Miguel Mila´was born in a Catalan aristocratic family with strong links with the artistic world (his ancestors assigned the Mila´House, also known as La Pedrera, to Gaudi´) and started working as an interior designer in the architecture studio of his brother Alfonso Mila´and Federico Correa. It was the end of the 1950s, a time of crisis when Spain hardly knew what Industrial Design was. There was practically no industry, everything was generally handmade. This framework marked the way Miguel Mila´ understood design, being sensitive to the pleasure of touching and closer to traditional techniques. Despite the shortage of objects, means and raw materials of the time, Miguel Mila´started designing lamps and furniture, that he soon manufactured in his own company, Tramo. Miguel Mila´set up this company with two friends, architects F. Ribas Barange´ and E. Pe´rez Ullibari. This is how Miguel Mila´got involved with Industrial Design. Out of Tramo, apocopation of Trabajos molestos (annoying works, that is, all the things little brothers have to do), many projects came out. For instance, he developed the previous versions of the famous TMC and TMM lamps (1958 and 1961), timeless Classic designs that are still selling nowadays. Some time after, he set up his own Industrial and interior design studio. Miguel Mila´participated with the designers and architects of that period in the first meetings in Barcelona to discuss on modernity in architecture, out of which came the question of how to promote design and implant its professional practice. These meetings culminated in the foundation of the ADI-FAD, together with Antoni de Moragas, Andre´ Ricard, Bohigas, Cirici Pellicer, Manel Cases and Rafael Marquina. From its beginnings, this association sought to foster Spanish design abroad, and to make a connection between young Spanish professionals and international design. "I am in reality a pre-Industrial designer- has Mila´stated. I feel more comfortable with the technical procedures that allow correcting failures, experimenting during the process, and controlling it to the maximum. That is where my preference for noble materials comes from, the preference for materials that know how to age." This is the case, among others, of the wooden Cesta lamps...

Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina
By Charlotte Perriand
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina Cassina interprets the Mexique designer tables and stools by Charlotte Perriand in new versions, for outdoor living enjoyment at its best. With materials and finishes suited to outdoor use that maintain the same harmony and purity of line that distinguish the entire collection. Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - designed to make the best use of the space - is the unmistakable feature of the seat of the Mexique Outdoor design stool, as well; it can be paired with the high bar table from the same collection. STRUCTURE AND FOOTREST In stainless steel, matt black powder-coat finish SEAT In okoume plywood, matt lacquer finish. FEET In black plastic Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. Re-edited by Cassina for the first time in 2014, it gave rise to a collection that includes several iterations, all while staying true to the original designs. Now, working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Cassina introduces the Mexique tables and stools in new versions for en plein air enjoyment to the max. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - originally designed to make the best use of the available space - remains the unmistakable trait in the Mexique Outdoor line, launched this year as a low table, dining table and high table with matching stool, available in two heights. New materials available in fresh, novel finishes and colours differentiate and emphasize the elegant design of this family. For all of the pieces in the series, Okoume wood, ideal for outdoor use, comes with matt lacquer finish in the following colours: marron glacé, China red, comfort, petroleum, light grey, sage green, a new shade of blue and Capri blue; the low tables also come with glossy glazed ceramic finish in the following shades: mossy green, basalt grey and light grey, while a natural teak seat is also available for the stools. Thanks to this vast and varied product range, it is possible to mix and match the various styles to create dynamic, free-form arrangements in absolute Charlotte Perriand spirit. As is true of all the works in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the Cassina logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that corresponds to the data on its ID card. Important information regarding images of products: Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. The item that is selling is on the first image. Important information regarding color(s) of products: Actual colors may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor, laptop, tablet and phone screen has a different capability to display colors and that everyone sees these colors differently. We try to edit our photos to show all of our products as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor About The Designer: Charlotte Perriand full membership of that avant-garde cultural movement which, from the first decades of the twentieth century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave birth to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life. In this context, her specific contribution focuses on interior composition, conceived as creating a new way of living, still today at the heart of contemporary lifestyle. In the sphere of twentieth century furnishing history, the advent of modernity made possible the entrepreneurial audacity of this true reformer of interior design. At the beginning of her professional career she was acclaimed by critics for her Bar under the roof, exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1927 and constructed entirely in nickel-plated copper and anodized aluminium. In the same year, when she was just twenty-four years old, she began a decade-long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, at the famous design studios at 35, rue de Sèvres in Paris. Her presence in the Le Corbusier studio is visible in all the furnishings designed with him and with Pierre Jeanneret: and so Charlotte Perriand becomes a cornerstone in the reformation project promoted by the architect, adding a distinct dimension of humaneness to the often cold rationalism of Le Corbusier. In her creations she manages to animate the fundamental substance of daily life with new aesthetic values: in particular her talent and intuition in the discovery and use of new materials manifest themselves to their full extent. The ten-year long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, and her Japanese experience, represent periods of intense creative effervescence in the life of the artist. During her long stay in the Far East (‘40-‘46), she reveals her artistic talent to the full, through a reinterpretation of the reality of life to echo both tradition and modernity. By way of example, worthy of mention are the furnishings produced using traditional bamboo processing techniques, capable of enhancing the new forms already experimented using steel-tubing.After her work as a professional, she concentrates on a series of original and balanced productions, commissioned by top-level authorities and leading companies of the calibre of Air France, and by a number of foreign organizations, authenticating the fame she had by now gained on the international scene. The distinguishing factor of Charlotte Perriand’s personality is a sincere loyalty to the principles of humane and innovative rationalism, preserved intact in her projects, on which she worked with such passion, also in readiness for their revival in the “Cassina I Maestri” collection. Vico Magistretti 905 Armchair by Cassina
By Vico Magistretti, Cassina
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Armchair model 905 designed by Vico Magistretti in 1964. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. A modern chair with a cultural heritage, expression of the creative genius of Vico Magistretti who designed it in 1964. 905 is an elegant chair made of solid wood and cowhide, where design translates to practical simplicity. Produced by Cassina until 2000, this chair has now been relaunched, the finishes and details having been updated from the original archive model. The sophisticated elegance of the frame, which features cylindrical legs and curved arm-rests, has been rejuvenated thanks to Cassina’s extensive experience in handling leather, not to mention the company’s high quality carpentry skills. The complex nature of this piece is expressed in a design that looks simple but fully reflects the genius quality of the original concept, a veritable masterpiece of the crafts tradition proper to Meda, in the Brianza area north of Milan, the trademark registered by Cassina and a guarantee of utmost quality. The frame, in finest quality wood, bespeaks the perfect combination of the artisanal tradition and premier CNC technology, while the overall design stands out for the self-supporting seat crafted from one single piece of saddle leather, curved and slotted into the frame. The decorative stitching has been discontinued, while the rear of the chair still features the leather belt that lends support to the back and enhances its comfort quotient. The 905 chair...
