The James Bond Archives. Art Edition ‘Casino Royale’, 2006
By TASCHEN
Located in Toronto, ON
Shaken, Not Stirred The most complete account of the making of the James Bond series, in an Art Edition signed by Daniel Craig and 007 producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli Limited Art Edition (No. 1–500), numbered and signed by Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli with the print Casino Royale, 2006 by Greg Williams. The museum-quality print on archival paper is numbered and signed by Greg Williams. It shows Greg William’s iconic shot of Daniel Craig as James Bond. The image was used for the Casino Royale (2006) teaser poster, and captures the allure of Bond. “Bond, James Bond.” Since Sean Connery uttered those immortal words in 1962, the most dashing secret agent in the history of cinema has been charming and thrilling audiences worldwide. This impeccably British character created by author Ian Fleming has starred in 25 EON-produced films, played by six different actors over five decades. EON Productions opened their archives of photos, designs, storyboards, and production materials to editor Paul Duncan, who spent two years researching over one million images and 100 filing cabinets of documentation. The result is the most complete account of the making of the series, covering every James Bond film ever made, beginning with Dr. No (1962) and ending with the 25th film No Time To Die(2021), including the spoof Casino Royale (1967) and Never Say Never Again (1983). The wealth of previously unpublished photography, set designs, storyboards, and production memos is supplemented by an oral history recounted by over 150 cast and crew. From producers to stuntmen, directors to production designers, these personal narratives relate the true inside story from the Bond sets, offering outstanding insight into the personalities and processes behind the most successful and longest-running film franchise in cinema history. This book is a comprehensive tribute to the legend of James Bond. The updated edition includes exclusive photography and new interviews with Daniel Craig, director Cary Fukunaga, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and many others, revealing the full story behind the making of the emotionally charged No Time To Die. Signed by Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli Limited edition of 500 numbered copies Each comes with an archival, museum-quality photo print Casino Royale, 2006, signed by photographer Greg Williams. Hardcover book in clamshell box with print in portfolio Made with unrestricted access to the Bond archives, this XXL tome recounts the history of James Bond in words and pictures Among the 1,100 images are many previously unseen stills, on-set photos, memos, documents, storyboards, posters, and designs, plus unused concepts, and alternative designs Behind-the-scenes stories from the people who were there: producers, directors, actors, screenwriters, production designers, special effects technicians, stuntmen, and other crew members Includes every Bond film from Dr. No (1962) to the 25th film No Time To Die (2021) The editor Paul Duncan is a film historian whose TASCHEN books include The Star Wars Archives, The James Bond Archives, The Charlie...

"Man Overboard", oil painting, figurative, man, woman, bikini, recline, gaze
Located in Toronto, Ontario
"Man Overboard" is an oil painting with chalk and graphite on wood panel, and measures 16" high by 12" wide. It is finished with a clear resin across the surface, lending the artwork a particular warmth and liquidity that is rare and lovely to behold. Typical of the artist, the painting is a mystery despite its apparent simplicity – a woman wearing part of her bikini stretches out beside a pool or body of water, while another figure hovers nearby. The title Man Overboard would suggest the woman's pose and partial nudity have completely derailed the man's intentions – perhaps driven him to distraction. Note the restrained color palette, the subtle toning of the wood surface, the bodies rendered and bodies suggested. The surface is very interesting – drawn lines and painterly brushstrokes to be sure, but also the toned wood coming through as color and texture. All of it held, as if in time, by the resin layer acting as a lens to both transmit this picture and admit light to the picture. A true artifact. From Will Hudson...

Woman in Blue
By Andy Warhol
Located in Toronto, Ontario
Andy Warhol is arguably the most important American artist of the 20th century. In the 1950s, he was an in-demand and celebrated illustrator working for New York's toniest publications (like Harper's Bazaar) and elegant shops (such as Bonwit Teller), in addition to many smaller independent fashion companies. In the mid-1950s Warhol became synonymous with shoes after creating a successful campaign for shoe retailer Miller & Sons. Although Warhol had a parallel art practice, primarily focused on drawing, surpassing the designation of “commercial artist” proved difficult. Consider that this era was the height of popularity for the Abstract Expressionist painters. Despite the prevailing aesthetic, Warhol continued to be dedicated to making elegant or playful line drawings. This untitled illustration is an intimate example of Warhol at his best in the 1950's. It is ambiguous whether this was created for a client, or whether Warhol was inspired by an encounter in real life. With the lightest touch, the artist renders a glamorous woman's profile as she holds a young child in her arms. Unique to this drawing is the subtle presence of the child, who rests gently against the woman's chest in a tender embrace yet is almost entirely abstract. This maternal exchange represents an unexpected deviation from Warhol's typical subject matter, possibly serving as a tribute to his own mother, Julia Warhola, whom he admired deeply. This elegant drawing is a marvellous precursor to Warhol's Pop Art era when he became transfixed by images and representation of women. Questions about this piece? Contact us. Nice Doin Business With Ya
By Todd White
Located in Toronto, ON
31" x 30" Unframed Limited Edition Giclee on Canvas with Hand Embellishment of 25 Hand Signed by Todd White Todd white captures restaurant, night and Hollywood scenes with contrasting colors serving the viewer’s eyes as those in his stolen scenes serve or are served-wine, coffee, cigarettes, cigars, and martinis. He creates timeless scenes of diverse attraction, of known intimacy. Within the exaggerated features and textured skin of his characters lies truth, yours and theirs. Distinctive bodies and details to lips, eyes, hair, skin, hands and what is held in each, separate and blend his characters’ lives. The smoke that rises from their lips, the drinks that linger at their fingertips, the clothing that adorns their bodies and the crowd created among lovers, friends, patrons and co-workers all speak a certain poetry. Each character depicts the subtleties of what one shows and what one hides. An asymmetrical face tells of an asymmetrical life, of how life wears and how we wear life — what we choose to carry in our hands and on our faces — how we wear ourselves, what smoke and color we stand in. Todd’s paintings are captivating, demanding a second look, often invoking humor or thoughts of familiar feelings — I’ve been there, I know them. Above all, the work is infectious and has caught the attention of the public (galleries cannot keep enough of Todd’s work in stock) as well as celebrities (Vin Diesel, Hugh Hefner, Macaulay Culkin, Eric McCormack, Ryan Stiles and Joe Rogan are collectors of Todd’s oil paintings). But who is the artist behind the art and where did his unique style come from? Todd began in at Warner Bros. Studios while working on the popular series, tiny toons. Through character clean-up and development, Todd began to forge his own artistic style. Shortly thereafter, Todd became part of the lead animation team for the internationally renowned cartoon, sponge bob square pants. Over the next three years, Todd sharpened his eye in storyboarding, illustration and character design. Throughout this period, Todd privately experimented with style and concept, eventually arriving at a process which guides him through every piece. The impact is apparent in his paintings; Todd’s rat-pack-meets-Picasso style results, in part, from his desire to reveal his characters’ innermost thoughts and emotions on their faces. Todd likens his portraits to his favorite episode of the Twilight Zone in which people wore masks that later became their faces and revealed who they truly were. Fast forward ten years later, and until Todd can conceptually see the story in his head, he refuses to paint a single signature knuckle curled around one of his famous martinis. "I actually name my pieces first and then i visualise each face and its personality. Then I develop each person’s story." The stark, unblemished delivery of his subjects is very much intended: whatever isn’t necessary to the story isn’t on my canvas. "I don’t waste a lot of time with backgrounds because they don’t interest me. They aren’t necessary. Instead i focus on what is essential. For example, the hands." Hands are a focal point for Todd, reflecting the subject’s state of mind as much as any body language or facial expression. Everyone’s hands are full of personality he surmises. Take Al Pacino; without his hands, he’s not nearly as interesting to watch. In addition to more obvious influences, such as Austrian expressionist Egon Schiele, Todd credits Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Nat King Cole and the style and feel of the age of cool. However, Todd’s flirtation with the cool cats begins and ends on the canvas. On any given afternoon, you’ll find Todd’s paint-stained hands not reaching for a fresh cigarette or a third martini, (Todd doesn’t smoke and rarely drinks anything stronger than iced tea), but rather scooping trail mix to feed wild rabbits or throwing a well worn rubber ball for his dogs. Todd keeps his afternoons free because of the one trait he has in common with ol’ blue eyes...

The Far Shore
By Joyce Wieland
Located in Toronto, Ontario
Joyce Wieland (1931-1998) was one of the most accomplished and versatile Canadian artists of the 20th century. Emerging on the Toronto art scene in the early 1960s, throughout her career Wieland would explore the role of women, the body, nationalism, and intimacy using a variety of mediums. During much of the 1970s, Wieland was consumed by the creation (and recovery) of making her single feature film "The Far Shore". Her all-encompassing approach included writing the script, directing, co-producing, and trying to finance the project, a task that she notoriously despised. The film was loosely inspired by the life and death of the Canadian painter, Tom Thompson...

Lighten Up - 24"x30" - Abstracted Chandelier Painting, Grey, Beige, White, Blue
By Andrea Stajan-Ferkul
Located in Mississauga, Ontario
Lighten Up - This is an abstracted style chandelier painting combining delicate detail with intuitive abstract brush work. Tonal layers build up a textured surface evoking visual movement, and form small paintings within the larger canvas. The blend of literal and abstract elements keep the eye engaged, with an outcome both expressive and refined. // Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition. Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Stajan-Ferkul's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean. keywords: enlightened, chandelier, painting, impressionistic...
