Checkmate
By Yuri Martinez Ramos
Located in Los Angeles, CA
YURI MARTINEZ RAMOS "CHECKMATE" OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED, TITLED CUBAN-AMERICAN, DATED 2017 53.25 X 41.5 INCHES "Checkmate" is that great end-finale, that surprised everyone because you basically were playing or getting ready for a totally different game. An unexpected move from the governments who always have a "card up their sleeve" to screw you. Yuri Martinez Ramos was born in Havana, Cuba on November 24, 1964. He studied at the Elemental School of Plastic Arts from 1975 – 1979 and the National School of the Arts from 1979 – 1983. Martinez’ figurative paintings have been compared to Botero because of his satirical social commentary. His style, however, is uniquely his own with typically vibrant Latin colors and use of expressive magical realism. His paintings tell his story and the story of the Cuban dilemma. Martinez was granted permission by the US Justice Department after much effort with Cuban authorities to come to the US with his family and pursue his career outside Cuba. He now lives and works in Texas. Papillon Gallery...

Take the Money and Run - Framed Original Successful Pop Art Monopoly Painting
By Nelson De La Nuez
Located in Los Angeles, CA
As one of the world’s most collected, significant pop artists today, Nelson De La Nuez is a born iconoclast. Using his unique juxtaposition of pop culture and surrealism, blended with America’s rich culture and history, De La Nuez has created works of art that are considered timeless. Listed on the “Who’s Who List of the Most Collected Artists of Our Time,” his works are original, bold and outspoken. De La Nuez is known for his distinctive, trademarked style called “Art on the Edge,” which is creating art on all sides of the canvas and wood. This unique painting measures 48 inches high by 40 inches wide. It is signed on the front and the back by the artist. This artwork is framed in a black wood frame. Size and price include frame. It is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping options available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. De La Nuez’s artwork is hanging in some of the most prominent, private collections of movie stars, directors, producers, comedians, corporations and art connoisseurs, as well as purchased recently for future auctions by Sotheby’s. His art has been featured on countless television shows, including: VH1: Fabulous Life of: “The Latest in Billionaire Home Décor,” “Inside Edition,” MTV “Cribs,” HGTV “Designer’s Challenge,” E! “Celebrity Favorites,” “America’s Next Top Model”, HGTV’s “Extreme Homes,” countless Bravo TV shows and “TMZ: Michael Jackson’s Final Art Purchase.” His works have been in high demand at international art shows and galleries. His works are represented by Artplex Gallery, Los Angeles. Nelson De La Nuez was born in 1959 in Havana, Cuba and came to the US at age seven. He was raised in Glendale, CA. De La Nuez studied art history at Boston University. He sees life as a “backwards ride on a Ferris wheel while sitting in an enlightening philosophy course.” His images become performances – his characters the source of laughter and enjoyment. Nelson tries to create a new generation of art lovers, drawing upon icons and art history to entice younger minds, in turn provoking the interest of the generation above them. De La Nuez is an innovative artist who captivates people with his outlandish juxtaposed art. He is constantly creating new, thought-provoking images, which have been collected worldwide. The L.A. Times called De La Nuez “the comedic da Vinci of our times.” His ability to use these non-related images to achieve a whole new and stimulating outlook on life has brought him many awards and published features. The artist continues to challenge himself to incorporate new and exciting ideas into his art and his style. He believes he is a success if his art inspires people to think beyond the norm. Artplex Gallery has been representing and exhibiting Nelson de la Nuez's original artworks since 2016. Artplex Gallery is a partner gallery of Artspace Warehouse. Artspace Warehouse has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards. Artspace Warehouse and Artplex Gallery are known to provide accurate descriptions, images, reliable services, communication, and delivery. Zen Beauty - Contemporary black and white photography of Flower series - medium
By MAE Curates
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This photography is part of a series of zen like beauty of Flowers art photography. In 3 sizes. This piece: Print size: 30 x 37.5 in. Image dimensions are 22 x 30 in. Matted in 8 ply museum archival matt. Ed of 15, signed, editioned on a Certificate of Authenticity by by photographer. About this series: With great patience and respect, the photographer observes the life cycle of the flower, viewing the subject much like a portrait photographer views a person, choosing the particular instance which in his view represents the essence of the flower. We feel the piece evokes a certain poetic, quiet, Zen beauty. The photographer was a London Central Saint Martins graduate and lived in a short spell in a monastery in Japan, and now primarily lives in Japan. ----- The artist was born in the UK in 1971, and after leaving Central Saint Martin’s in London in 1992, determined to explore a deeper sense of meaning, and contemplate life, he journeyed to Japan where he lived in a Zen Buddhist monastery and lived and studied in a temple in the mountains of Yamanashi for months, during which he studied Zen Buddhism and joined the monks in their daily prayers and routines. Over time, the subject matter for this series is borne out of a respect of the inner life of living things, Nature, in this instance and a sense of “mono no aware” (the art of impermanence). His artist vision has drawn influences from his Western artistic culture, Japanese classical aesthetics, and the 1933 classical text, “In Praise of Shadows” by Japanese literary titan, Junichiro Tanizaki (1886–1965). Tanizaki, as translated by scholars, examines the singular standards of Japanese aesthetics and their stark contrast with the value systems of the industrialized West. He writes: “We find beauty not in the thing itself but in the patterns of shadows, the light and the darkness, that one thing against another creates… Were it not for shadows, there would be no beauty.” “Shadows” presumably refers to the subtle interplay between light and darkness, not a stark dualism between black and white. Hence, the quiet beauty expressed in shadows of light and darkness as a living flower moves through the passage of life. The art of impermanence refers to a “pathos” (aware) of “things” (mono), deriving from their transience. The flower is a perfect metaphor for the expression of impermanence and beauty. Each flower has its own distinctive character and temperament, and is in constant dynamic motion. Through the passage of its life, it blossoms to its greatest peak, turning always towards the light until they eventually give up their petals. The artist documents this process through hundreds of images over time, essentially capturing the essence of the life of the subject. Both the visual aesthetic and process of his art calls to mind the transcient nature of things and reminds us to rejoice what we do have. In his gold series - Gold, in turn associated with the sacred, the divine, with supernatural powers and even immortality, has been recognized since ancient times in all the great civilizations as a noble material. Gold leaves have been used to decorate shrines, temples, statues, armor, jewelry since ancient times. At different times of the day, the light reflects off the gold differently as the day progresses, providing a visual context in which the celebration of life was captured. The artist has been recognized for his work for example, with a merit award at the Art Directors Club 87th Annual Awards N.Y. (2008). His work has been in group exhibitions as a runner up at the National Portrait Gallery in London as part of the Taylor Wessing London – Elle Commendation Portrait Awards, and at the Kiyosato Photo Art Museum in 1999. A successful photographer, the artist’s commercial clients include Adidas, Estee Lauder, Hugo Boss and shot celebrities for magazines / editorials featuring Sam Smith, Jeremy Renner, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Fincher, Zhang Ziyi...

American Espresso - Original Collage Floral Whimsical Still Life Artwork
By Maria C. Bernhardsson
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Maria C. Bernhardsson is a colorful artist who lives and paints in Sweden. Most of her works are influenced by the architecture and geometry of houses. Bernhardsson travels the world photographing and sketching houses to use as inspiration for her canvas and paper artworks. Within her artworks, Bernhardsson plays with the colors and shadows of individual houses in conjunction with the overall feeling of gazing at a collection of these buildings. She then adds playful details such as flowers and animals to make the houses feel more like homes. This 28-inch high by 20-inch wide one-of-a-kind original mixed media and collage artwork on paper is signed by the artist near the lower right corner. This artwork is unframed. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique artwork. Even with her focus on bold colors and combinations, all of her artworks convey a level of warmth, comfort, and familiarity. The abstract layering of the subjects within her artworks create the ambiguity which leads to the nearly universal familiarity. Maria often paints in strong colors, in many nuances, and a lot of layers. She describes it like this: “The colorway is very important to me when I paint. I love to combine as many colors as possible at the same time. Contrasts, strong colors/ bright pastels, plain/structured, dark/bright in a cubistic, skewed, dreamy, and naive way.” Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Maria C Bernhardsson's original artworks since 2018. New York City - Original Pop Art Landscape Collage on Canvas
By Marion Duschletta
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Swiss artist Marion Duschletta transforms luxury objects and urban landscapes from around the world into unique layered artworks. She combines an intriguing mixture of urban photographs and American pop icons opposite brand names and advertising references, adding bold colors and compelling patterns. She transfers them onto archival paper which is mounted on canvas. The pop art imagery is often distressed in an attempt to emphasize a bygone era. She further enhances the artworks with acrylic paint and texture, adding depth to her paintings. This vibrant one-of-a-kind 8 inch post-pop square artwork is created with mixed media on canvas. The sides of the artwork are finished with a textured white paint, and it does not require framing. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping. Affordable U.S. and global shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique artwork. Marion Duschletta was born in 1972 in Graubünden, Switzerland. She has been a full time professional artist since 2004. For over ten years, she was the owner of Galerie Mauerblümchen in Zürich, Switzerland. Due to her increasing international success as a fine artist she now focuses exclusively on creating unique artworks. Her popular series of artworks include cities such as New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, London as well as American Pop Icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Chanel. Notable collectors include Ariel Winter, Los Angeles, CA. Red Pool I
By Dirk de Bruycker
Located in Los Angeles, CA
De Bruycker was born in Ghent, Belgium but has lived and worked in Santa Fe, NM for the past 30 years until his passing in July 2015. In addition to oil paint, De Bruycker also uses asphalt, gesso and cobalt drier on canvas. De Bruycker took an intuitive, process-oriented approach to his work, which he described as “emotive and fluid”. His abstract color forms were created with a palette composed of what he defined as “internal emotional” colors. De Bruycker was honored with the prestigious Visual Artist Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and has paintings in the permanent collections of the New Mexico Art...
