Abstract art. Strong colors. Red. Black. White. Circle motif. About the Artist: Steve Joester is a British-born Rock & Roll photographer and mixed media artist, currently living and working in New York City. 
Joester, a leading Rock & Roll photographer in the 70's and 80's, had his iconic images of the greatest rock performers appear on album sleeves, posters, exhibitions and magazines worldwide. Joester made his mark shooting icons such as Mick Jagger, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Sting, and also documented Andy Warhol on film with Rob Halford of Judas Priest backstage at the Palladium in April, 1979. In an explosive interpretation of the rock icons that left their indelible mark on our generation, Joester's unique mixed media works transcend his photography. Using an unconventional mixture of materials on his canvases, he echoes the raw energy of Rock & Roll with his own Interpretation of the emotion and power of the live performances. About the Artist: "I contemplate every color, mark, and placement of the line to formulate what I call rhythmic velocities: relationships of color and motion that give life to the composition, creating a heartbeat. I am interested in the duality of math and design: through repetition, a line made of color becomes a rhythmic pattern. This concept is found when composing music, organic landscapes and architectural structures. By referencing these sources, my abstractions transcend their formal components, reaching beyond a minimalist canon. My work is composed of hard edges and thin lines set against an abstract field or a pictorial space. Each color has a quickness that is relative to the colors surrounding it; this gives my paintings visual movement and dislocates the viewer. Through linear and geometric forms, my paintings explore design and mathematical concepts found broadly throughout culture. Movement on Metal is part of a series of graphic, industrial, black and white photographic images. All are limited editions and produced with infused archival inks on metal which means the image is permeated into the metal thereby becoming part of the material versus being merely printed on the surface.
