Constantine Maroulis - Hollywood meets Rocker

Family Home by Dale Cohen Designstudio in New York, NY

NBC’s LXTV OPENHOUSE asked Ms. Cohen to decorate the new apartment of Constantine Maroulis (of American Idol fame). Ms. Cohen was selected since she is known for designing bachelor-friendly spaces. Mr. Maroulis’ style was clear; he loved vintage Hollywood Deco having inherited several pieces from his family. Ms. Cohen creates a space that pairs the Rock of Ages star's rocker-meets-Old Hollywood aesthetic, culminating in Hollywood meets Rocker vibe. The great find was a pair of 1930’s Italian club chairs from the 1stdibs Saturday Sale. They are reminiscent of old Hollywood private screening rooms with their low slung deep shape and beautiful midnight blue velvet seats, which play against the custom painted ceiling panels. In the bedroom, the vintage dresser is from Hollywood in the mid-60’s. The wall behind the bed is papered with a rich gold foil paper in a sophisticated pattern by Neisha Crosland fittingly named “Hollywood Grape”. Lastly, the bed was accented with pillows in a Missoni fabric that are reminiscent of old vinyl LPs.
