1 CENTRAL PARK WEST APARTMENT

Apartment by Christine A.L. Restaino Architect P.C. in New York, NY

This project is a complete design and renovation of the architectural interior of a NYC apartment with panoramic views from Central Park to the Hudson River. It also includes the Interior Design, from furniture and finishes to accessories and art selections.

The design concept was inspired by and tailored to display the owners’ world class artwork collection. A neutral materials and furnishings palette was developed to complement the artworks, with natural stone, wood and etched glass finishes used throughout. The project features custom furniture and furnishings designed by the firm throughout including:

 A micro-thin satin stainless steel floating wall designed to feature a Kenneth Noland target painting which faces the apartment Entry door.

 A wall of bleached walnut veneer millwork spanning from the Library, across the Foyer and into the Living Room which incorporates custom A/V equipment and various types of storage.

 A cantilevered black granite sculpture pedestal made from a solid stone block featuring a carved white marble sculpture by Pablo Atchugarry. A cantilevered black granite bar featuring a bronze sculpture by Archipenko.

 A `floating’ Dining Room lacquered console that also acts as a pedestal for a Barbara Hepworth cast bronze sculpture.

 A bleached walnut and ebony square Dining Room table

With degrees in both disciplines, the principal of the firm is adept at and passionate about the creative integration of art into architecture and interior design.
