Clifftop Villa

The concept for this four-bedroom summer residence in nNew Jersey was driven by both local traditions and the singular location. At once constrained and exposed, the site – a rocky perch above the Atlantic – possessed a stark “white cliffs of Dover” beauty that required an asymmetrical design including a cylindrical tower, an irregularly shaped central volume and a large rectilinear block. English Gothic plaster moldings define the living and dining areas as discrete rooms even as the cool, continuous Venetian terrazzo floor unites them with the entry hall into a capacious open plan.
