A considered mix of woods and clever architectural details are at the heart of this organic modern guest house.
The studio helped our long-time client conceive this backyard retreat which serves as a guest house, office, and gym. The house’s exterior is clad in shou sugi ban charred Japanese cypress creating a dramatic contrast to the verdant landscaping. Inside, an inspired mix of natural and ebonized white oak and walnut walls, ceilings and millwork, creating a soulful pattern play, while honed marble countertops, elegant plaster walls, and un-lacquered brass hardware inject an elegant earthiness into the rooms.
