Soho Loft
This Soho loft apartment has some wonderful elements of old downtown NY. There are original wooden columns, oversized windows, and 10’-0” H ceilings. When the client purchased this apartment, his directive was to furnish the apartment with some vintage elements mixed with contemporary furniture. The client informed Jasmine that he wanted a bold color palette and that “he was not afraid of color”. He was enthusiastic in the shopping process and was eager to start an art collection. As the design work progressed, his fiancé became involved with the design decisions and art purchasing. One of the best parts of this design project included visits to various art galleries & artist studios. The large blue painting in the Living Room was purchased at artist Kikuo Saito’s studio, who also happened to be his neighbor. Since our client had advanced degrees in physics, the blue painting reminded him of physics equations rubbed out on a chalkboard, yet KiKuo Saito told us that the movement in the painting represents dance choreography drawings. This client’s art collection comprises of contemporary photography, oil paintings and sculpture.
