Rug With Purple For Sale on 1stDibs

At 1stDibs, there are many versions of the ideal rug with purple for your home. A rug with purple — often made from fabric, wool and silk — can elevate any home. If you’re shopping for a rug with purple, we have 122 options in-stock, while there are 37 modern editions to choose from as well. You’ve searched high and low for the perfect rug with purple — we have versions that date back to the 19th Century alongside those produced as recently as the 21st Century are available. A rug with purple is a generally popular piece of furniture, but those created in Modern, Mid-Century Modern and Art Deco styles are sought with frequency. Berber Tribes of Morocco, Beni M'Guild and Beni Mrirt each produced at least one beautiful rug with purple that is worth considering.

How Much is a Rug With Purple?

Prices for a rug with purple start at $149 and top out at $86,250 with the average selling for $3,930.

Finding the Right Rugs and Carpets for You

Good antique rugs and vintage rugs have made their way into homes across the globe, becoming fixtures used for comfort, prayer and self-expression, so choosing the right area rug is officially a universal endeavor.

In modern usage, “carpet” typically denotes a wall-to-wall floor cushioning that is fixed to the floor. Rugs, on the other hand, are designed to cover a specific area and can easily be moved to new locations. However, the terms are interchangeable in many parts of the world, and, in the end, it won’t matter what you decide to call it.

It’s well known that a timeless Persian rug or vintage Turkish rug can warm any interior, but there are lots of other styles of antique rugs to choose from when you're endeavoring to introduce fresh colors and textures to a bedroom or living room.

Moroccan Berber rugs are not all about pattern. In fact, some of the most striking examples are nearly monochrome. But what these rugs lack in complexity, they make up for in brilliant color and subtle variation. Moroccan-style interiors can be mesmerizing — a sitting room of this type might feature a Moroccan rug, carved wooden screens and a tapestry hung behind the sofa.

Handwoven kilim rugs, known for their wealth of rich colors and unique weaving tradition, are pileless: Whereas the Beni Ourain rugs of Morocco can be described as dense with a thick surface or pile, an authentic kilim rug is thin and flat. (The term “kilim” is Turkish in origin, but this type of textile artistry is practiced all across the Balkans, throughout the Arab world and elsewhere.)

When it comes to eye-catching floor coverings, the distinctive “medallion” pattern of Oushak rugs has two types of rounded shapes alternating against a rich red or blue background created with natural dyes, while the elaborate “star” pattern involves large eight-pointed shapes in diagonal rows alternating with diamonds.

If you’re looking for something unexpected, find a runner rug that pops in your hallway or on your stairs. Dig for dazzling geometric patterns in our inventory of mid-century modern rugs and carpets, which includes works designed by the likes of Swedish textile masters Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Marianne Richter and other artisans.

Carpets and rugs have been around for thousands of years. Prehistoric humans turned to animal skin, wool and fur to craft simple fabrics to soften hard terrain. A 2016 study suggests that "cave lions" were hunted for exactly this purpose, and that decorating your cave with their pelts may have conferred strength and prestige. Although many of these early textiles are still in existence, tracing their precise origins is difficult. Carpets quickly became such a valuable trade commodity that the weavings could easily travel far from their places of origin.

The oldest known carpet was found in southern Siberia. (It may have traveled there from Persepolis in Iran.) For the flat-weave floor rugs crafted by Native Americans, cotton was the primary material before sheep’s wool was introduced in the 16th century. In Europe, carpet-making was fundamental to folk art, and Asian carpets imported to European countries were at one time considered a precious luxury and not intended to remain permanently on the floor.

With the variety of area rugs and carpets rolled out for you on 1stDibs — a collection that includes traditional, modern, minimalist rugs and other coverings of all kinds — things will be looking up whenever you’re looking down.

Questions About Rug With Purple
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 22, 2021
Yes, sapphires can be purple. While sapphires are generally blue, these stones actually come in a wide range of colors. Purple sapphires are some of the rarest sapphires in the world.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 17, 2021
Purple Jade is a stone which gets its color from iron and is very valuable due to its rarity. It is considered the stone of mirth and happiness and is thought to dispel negative feelings.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 22, 2021
Purple diamonds are real and occur naturally. However, because they typically have a bold overtone of either red or blue, a pure purple diamond is hard to come by in nature.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Purple diamonds are exceptionally rare and symbolize spirituality and power. In the past, purple was a color reserved for royalty, causing purple diamonds to carry a meaning of nobility as well. Shop a collection of authentic purple diamond jewelry on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 22, 2021
There are quite a few types of purple gemstones including purple diamonds, purple chalcedony, purple spinel, iolite, purple jade, and purple sapphire. The most popular purple stone, however, is the amethyst.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
The purple crystal found in some geodes is usually amethyst. It is a variety of quartz commonly used to produce fine jewelry, such as rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Amethyst is also the birthstone for February. Shop a selection of geodes on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMay 5, 2023
Whether purple sapphire is real depends on the piece in question. Nature does produce purple sapphires, but they are not as common as other colors like blue and white. An expert appraiser can help you determine if a particular piece contains a genuine gemstone. On 1stDibs, shop a selection of sapphire gemstone jewelry.
  • 1stDibs ExpertJune 15, 2023
What a purple sapphire means is largely a matter of individual interpretation. Some people associate the gemstone with wisdom, while others believe it symbolizes spiritual enlightenment. On 1stDibs, shop a range of sapphire jewelry from some of the world’s top sellers.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 13, 2023
Yes, natural purple star sapphires are rarer than sapphires of other colors like blue. Natural purple star sapphires come in a variety of hues from light lavender to deep violet. Sapphires can even be colorless, or white, although examples are very rare, since the corundum from which they are formed has to have been untouched by any other element. Non-blue colored sapphires are referred to as “fancy sapphires” and can be pink, purple, orange, yellow or green. Shop a collection of vintage and modern sapphire jewelry from some of the world’s top jewelers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertOctober 5, 2021
A purple garnet’s worth depends on the four C's: the carat weight, clarity, cut and color. It ranges from around $400 to $800 per carat, depending on size and quality. You will find a wide range of vintage and antique garnet jewelry on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertSeptember 28, 2021
Both Oriental and Persian rugs are hand knotted on looms. While Oriental rugs are tied with symmetrical Ghiordes knots, Persian rugs are tied using an asymmetrical or Senneh knot. Find a collection of vintage and antique Oriental and Persian rugs on 1stDibs.
