"Taraxacum 2" Pendant Light by Achille & Piergiacomo Castiglioni, Flos, 1960

About the Item

An original, vintage and in excellent condition ''Taraxacum 2'' cocoon suspension lamp designed in the 1960 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and manufactured by Flos in the same period. With a diameter of 93cm, the lamp is designed using a unique Material known as "cocoon," which is sprayed onto a slender core of white lacquered metal rod. The cocoon Material creates a film of plastic polymers that adheres only to the most protruding points of the structure, resulting in a beautifully organic design. Despite the fragility of the Material, this example of Taraxacum cocoon suspension lamp is in excellent vintage condition, with an incredible patina acquired over the years. The original canopy remains intact, and the lamp can accommodate one E27 75w maximum bulb. Their work has been exhibited in museums around the world, and they have won numerous awards for their contributions to design.
