Paintings, illustrations and prints are the kinds of art that Patrick Nagel created. The appearance of his prints and paintings is reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints as well as Art Deco styling, yet it is completely contemporary in appeal. Nagel's synthesized components of graphic design, fashion illustration and a sensuous approach to painting the figure into a stylized personal vision altered attitudes toward illustrating fashion in the 1980s. In addition to paintings, Nagel created more than 60 graphic editions, posters, commemorative editions and several commissions for Playboy and Architectural Digest, as well as the cover for the 1982 Duran Duran album Rio.
