Contemporary Red, Purple, Black, and White Hand Drawn Tessellated Abstract
Located in Houston, TX
Hand drawn op art painting by contemporary artist Austin Magruder. The work features abstract, geometric tessellations that create a mesmerizing pattern. Signed and dated in the front lower right corner. Currently hung in a white floating frame. Dimensions Without Frame: H 24 in. x W 17.88 in. Artist Biography: After discovering his ability and passion for geometric art, Austin constantly challenges himself to expand the boundaries of geometric pattern. His use of vibrant colors intertwined with never ending paths results in a 3 dimensional surprise to the naked eye. Austin had some schooling at Glassell School of Art, but is self taught in the realm of geometric art. He has always been creative and interested in arts as a means of escape. Over the past several years Austin started dedicating more of his time to his passion for creating art. Austin started coloring geometric patterns, primarily mandala drawings during Dialysis treatments in 2016. Eventually becoming inspired to learn to draw with a compass and ruler. One thing lead to another and now he has discovered over 120 tessellatons. During late 2018 to Spring 2020, Austin was a tenant at Sawyer Yards and attended several classes Glassell School of Art from 2019 to early 2020. Since this time, he worked for a commercial screen...

Underworld, Past- From the series " Past, Now, Future" by Parimah Avani - 2023
Located in Roma, IT
Underworld, Past is a drawing realized by Iranian artist and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. China ink, acrylic, and mixed media on Japanese Kozo paper with applied Tengujo Kashmir paper and Papyrus, Plettenberg, DE. Exhibited in " Heroine's Journey" 2023, in Gallery hall of German Bank " Sparkasse", Winner of scholarship and art residency "Werkstatt Plettenberg" in DE, 2023. From the series " Past,  Now, Future" in which the central piece "Earth- Now" is in the Municipal collection of Plettenberg, Germany. Hand-signed and dated. The artwork is represented with alchemical, magical, and mythological symbols and signs, through rebellious miniature figures, creatures and animals that shape the whole body of time and three words, here the past - underworld has the shape of the head of a horse, with by metal colors referring to the alchemical process of soul in a minimalistic manner, painting is characterized by expressive brushes. In a fusion of myth and archetypal features, the works aim to transport viewers into the intricate realm of "Heroine's Journey," an exhibition that encapsulates the essence of unity, rebellion and revolutionary figures, transformation, and resistance, and the enduring power of mythological narratives.  Through a combination of limited colors, shapes, and ancient symbolism, these works invite an odyssey that transcends the boundaries of culture, time, and narrative. Drawing inspiration from Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. Avani's works weave together a narrative that celebrates the interconnectedness of all living beings.  Avani employs a chosen palette of alchemical colors: various gold, silver, bronze, tint, and copper, representing metals and planets. Each color carries deep, symbolic significance. Gold symbolizes the golden spirit and enlightenment, while silver connects to the feminine aspect and the moon's goddess associations. Copper represents both women and the essence of love. These colors create a narrative resonating with universal themes of transformation and spirituality, mirroring the elevation of the soul through alchemical symbolism. Parimah Avani, born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran, is a multidisciplinary artist and a recognized figure in contemporary hermetic Persian literature and the avant-garde "Other" movement. Her book, "Magic Verses of Antalus," was a finalist for the prestigious "Shamlou" Award. Her most recent achievement is winning an art competition for a scholarship from Werkstatt Plettenberg in Germany, culminating in a solo exhibition held at the Gallery of the German Bank of Sparkasse. Avani's artistic journey began with travels to China and Russia during her formative years, oriental philosophies, particularly Zen and Buddhism, and folk arts ignited her passion for comparative mythology evident in her archaic style. In 2009, she moved to Rome, Italy to study multimedia art, and gained a Master’s in painting at the Fine Art Academy of Rome. Immersed in cultural parallels between East and West, mythological themes transcend boundaries in art, exploring magic and ancient scripts inspired by the scholarly insights of Frazer and Eliade on rituals. Her anthropological view culminated in a Ph.D. in the history of...

Golden Ballad of Hope - Paint by Parimah Avani - 2021
Located in Roma, IT
Golden Ballad of Hope is realized by Iranian Painter and Poet Parimah Avani in 2023. Sumi, Persian ink, and acrylic on kraft paper. Hand-signed and dated. Excellent conditions. From the series "Resistance and Alchemical Metals" The artwork is realized poeticly, with an exclusive title that refers to the socio-political context, and the application of limited color of metals" various copper, gold, silver, bronze" have metaphorical features of alchemy. In this series artist took positions, and gestures of revolutionary and rebellious bodies on the battlefield of revolution and transformed them dynamically into precious sources of resistance by spiritual transitions of colors akin to alchemy, meat, and blood found their symbolic meaning through colors and expressive brushstrokes, metals here refer to bodies of freedom seekers, shapable, flexible, shiny and a source of strength, that highlights how a body becomes a battlefield, a golden source of sacrifice, a silver font of resistance, copper as blood in fighting for freedom.  What makes this series unique: it is deeply behind the dynamic emotion of each gestural figure, in a minimalistic manner, and the vigorous and unbridled energy of brushstrokes, is raw, spontaneous, and emotionally charged.  Her works in this series challenge oppression and gender-related issues by applying oriental brushstrokes of calligraphy in ink as a primary tool, to fragile subjects. Brenneman sources her forms from objects in her periphery, often in her home, rendering her paintings almost autobiographical, and forging a sense of familiarity. Brenneman received her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH, and her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Tristate area, as well as internationally in Busan, South Korea, Reims, France, and St. Petersburg, Russia. Brenneman’s work is included in the permanent collections at the Aspen Contemporary Art Collection, the Cleveland Clinic, the Sprint Collection, and The Progressive Corporation. The artist is based in West Orange...
