""This is a drawing made with acrylic paint and two pencils (silver and graphite). The drawing depicts fragments of a Renaissance painting: the dominant gray shape near the center is a woman's robe, alongside the yellow shape of a baby's dress. The red-violet gestural shape at the top references abstract painting and the gray pencil shape is also a purely abstract shape (though it looks like a Florentine tree to me).""
About the Artist:
Sian Oblak is an abstract painter living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Oblak's paintings involve examining the visual (spatial) and conceptual construction of the field of painting itself. The way paint has been applied - flat through volume, using symbolism, abstraction, realism….. - every ‘way’ of creating a painting seems viable. This idea is the reason why her paintings contain snatches of pure paint, non referential shapes, alongside rendered forms and shapes from historical paintings. Ms. Oblak makes many different sized paintings that range from large (5 ft x 8 ft) down to very small works 3"" x 5"". The paintings focus on very smooth surfaces and subtle colors in often unnamable hues. Groups of the small paintings hang in her studio representing 'visual conversations', between color, form and content."

Lembo Script M Abstract Art Mark’s dynamic work blurs the distinction between alcohol ink and watercolor - working with dyes, inks, liquid acrylic, liquid watercolor, and other aqueous media; lately, he has been incorporating metallic watercolor and pearlescent ink to his work. He has used canvas, synthetic Yupo™ paper, Yasutomo Mineral Paper, and various watercolor papers. Mark’s journey into the world of creative arts started with the question, “What would Jackson Pollock’s work look like if he had used transparent watercolors?” So, it was out with the pencils, pens, and brushes, and on to the pouring of various aqueous solutions.
