About the Item
Giorgia Oldano is a young italian artist specialized in drawing and wildlife. After photographing her subjects she uses the pictures as first inspiration to construct her own drawings. Her absolute mastery of pencil drawing confer her artworks a strong and unique identity.
From early on in her life, Giorgia Oldano used painting as a way to express herself. Most of the subjects of her paintings are animal species that are facing extinction. Therefore, through their depiction, the artist denounces the slow disappearance of precious forms of life. This effect is achieved by capturing the gaze of these animals, revealing the emotions that arise when one engages with nature.
To translate her personal connection with nature to her paintings, in 2014 Giorgia decided to abandon colour and devote herself to pencil drawings. This technique allowed her to evolve, giving her the opportunity to delve into a more accurate study of animals in their natural habitats.
In 2012 she won the absolute award of Italian champion of Natural Drawing (Oasis drawing nature competition), which allowed her to live a unique experience in Africa between Malawi and Zambia. In 2013 she won the title of International Artist in the Mammal category of the BCC Wildlife Artist Competition (UK). Lastly, in 2013, 2014, and 2016 her paintings were selected to be exposed at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum for the prestigious yearly exhibition BIRDS IN ART, in central Wisconsin, USA.
This artwork is framed, with glass, and fits perfectly in black and white interiors. The pictures illustrate the various stages of the drawing.

Giorgia Oldano
Giorgia Oldano is an Italian contemporary artist, born in 1984, in Turin, Italy. She specializes in wildlife and avian drawings. To translate her connection with nature to her paintings, in 2014, Giorgia decided to abandon color and devote herself to pencil drawings. This technique allowed her to evolve, allowing her to delve into a more accurate study of animals in their natural habitats. In 2013, she won the title of International Artist in the Mammal category of the “BBC Wildlife Artist Competition (UK)." Her paintings have also been exhibited at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, in Wisconsin, USA, for the prestigious yearly exhibition, “Birds in Art," which is recognized internationally as the exhibition that sets the standard for avian art.
