Plain gold moulding, 44.8 x 36 cm
The Rhenish still life painter Johann Martin Metz was court painter to the Elector of Cologne in Bonn. He received an early appointment at the court of the Cologne Elector Clemens August, who had a great need for the very decorative and elegantly composed still lifes. In their exotic arrangement and decorative composition, his works are characteristic and delightful examples of German Rococo.
