The Donkey is an artwok realized by the French Artist Paul Emile Colin . Pencil Drawing on paper. Signed on plate "Atelier P.E. Colin" on the right corner. On back a very graceful drawing of a woman portrait.   The artwork is attached on passepartout: 37.5x55 cm. Good conditions. Paul Emile Colin (1867-1949) was a French painter, engraver.  Friend of Charles Filiger, Colin joined Gauguin in Pont-Aven during the summer of 1890. From 1893, he developed the technique of penknife engraving on standing wood. His works from 1890 to 1900 are marked by the innovations of the Pont-Aven school. After the First World War, Colin continued his engraved work as an illustrator and devoted himself more to painting.From 1920, he traveled to Italy, Sicily, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. These visits are the source of inspiration for his new approach to color. He was a Member of the National Society of Fine Arts and of the Salon d'Automne, Vice-President of the Society of Original Wood Engraving and was made Knight of the Legion of Honor.
