About the Item
This piece titled "14th Century Romanian Peasant" is an original artwork made from micron pen on bristol board by Kate Glasheen. This piece is shipped in the pictured black frame and measures 17”h x 13”w. "14th Century Romanian Peasant" debuted during Paradigm Gallery's thirteenth anniversary exhibition, "Lucky 13", which featured works that use the themes are luck, tradition, and superstition. The piece is a slight departure from the artist's ongoing series, "Dead Kings", all done with micron pen.
A bed of lavender, a string of garlic, and a bow and feather to remember to adorn the deceased in ornamental rituals meant to keep the dead buried. As something human becomes something worse, transformations of reality occur: fiction becomes fact, magic becomes logic, and superstitions become survival.
