About the Item

Sarah Alexander's 22 x 30 inch drawing "Brainstorm" is a weightless contemporary pen and ink drawing of floating disc-like shapes that resemble magnifying lenses. The crisp lines of ink contrast with the malachite and zoicite green watercolor centers, softly pooling like sea glass. The silvery grey, and neutral colors give it a calm feeling, like a meditative journey in a weightless place. Shapes weave through the centers of others as if there were a portal into another dimension. The drawing is signed on the front lower right hand corner. Sarah Alexander is a contemporary mixed media artist with an emphasis on watercolor and drawing using unconventional surfaces and techniques. Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, and abroad. Her work has been published by North Light Books. Alexander is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, MA.

"MEMORY BOX", abstract watercolor, change, journey, family, map, green, mauve
By Fleur Thesmar
Located in Toronto, Ontario
MEMORY BOX is a new watercolor on Arches paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 22x30", and is a striking composition in tones of rose, emerald green, mauve, blue and violet. It's a courageous work of art, seemingly a map or record of change for the artist and her family. From Fleur Thesmar – "Memory Box is a painting of how we remember changes in our lives, sometimes in a fuzzy way. Daily rituals can blur important moments where a shift occured. We look at pictures or videos and over time tend to lose details." Having moved her family from France to America, artist Fleur Thesmar closely observed the changes in her world – from the seemingly obvious such as surrounding landscapes, the light of day and weather, the flowers, trees and shorelines – to the smaller less obvious shifts, such as how one behaves in a new world, in a new home, how one cherishes certain belongings and certain memories. Her artistic practice is borne out of that close observation and shift in perspective, and has led to a number of successful gallery shows in the U.S. and internationally. Fleur Thesmar has shown at Beacon Gallery in Boston MA, 440 Gallery, Brooklyn NY, Old West Museum, Cheyenne WY, Belmont Art Gallery, Belmont MA, and Salon Ile-de-France 2020, Bourg-La-Reine, France. Her work is on permanent display at the Tower Hill Botanic...
