About the Item
Sarah Alexander's "Lost in Thought" is a 54 x 44 x 1.5 inch botanically inspired India ink drawing on canvas with real gold leaf accents, and watercolor paint made from crushed semi precious gemstones. The black and white drawing was created using liquid ink and a dip pen and then painted into with purples, teal, and a hint of warm yellows. The ink and gold leaf border depicts a pattern reminiscent of Art Nouveau with a surprising twist. This opulent daydream on canvas is packed full of hidden surprises full of movement and symbolism from beetles to strands of pearls weaving their way though this fantastical botanical piece. The canvas is gallery wrapped and the sides are painted and drawn on. The piece is wired and ready to hang. Framing is not necessary.
Sarah Alexander is a contemporary mixed media artist with an emphasis on watercolor and drawing using unconventional surfaces and techniques. Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, and abroad. Her work has been published by North Light Books. Alexander is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
