About the Item

Artist Comments
Sunlight filters through a lush canopy of trees, casting a warm glow and gentle shade upon a tranquil canyon stream. Artist Jeff Fleming enhances the water's color to draw attention to the dappled light. The painting features calming shades of blue and green, creating a serene snapshot of nature's beauty.

About the Artist
Artist Jeff Fleming paints exuberant portraits of dogs and flowers, reflections of his positive energy. Growing up in Southern California, Jeff was first introduced to fingerpainting in kindergarten. He painted through high school and college and won several art awards, including Best of Show in a city-wide student competition. After graduating with a degree in journalism and advertising, he worked as an art director. For the next 40 years, he created print, radio, and television ads for a number of top agencies. "After retiring in 2019, the clouds of stress and pressure cleared and allowed me to set my creative energy free," says Jeff. He began developing new techniques focused on the excitement and energy of painting. Today, he uses a variety of methods and tools, including fingerpainting, traditional paint brushes, bamboo shish kebab sticks, kite string, spray paint, and splattering. While working, Jeff always listens to music, including Broadway musicals, dance music, and rhythmic Hawaiian tunes.

Waters Up, Oil Painting

Artist Comments
The painting depicts a serene autumn scene in the delta land of the Mississippi River. Towering cypress trees encircle the area, with the water hazily reflecting their yellow and orange-tinted leaves. The composition exudes a tranquil atmosphere.

About the Artist
Artist Shela Goodman paints impressionist pastoral scenes with graceful refinement. Growing up on a farm in rural Arkansas, she nurtured her love for the beauty of nature. Shela captures these memories in harmonious displays of the environment around her. She was diagnosed with partial cone dystrophy, which closed off her periphery and deterred her ability to see. “In order for me to see a large painting in full, I have to take photos of it while it is in progress to see what the whole painting looks like,” shares Shela. The impairment of her vision only inspired her to paint what she can still perceive. She spent many years in Indiana and Michigan until she returned to Arkansas to care for her parents. Their unused living room became the perfect studio space for Shela, allowing her to grow her creative process while being available for her parents’ needs. As expected from a genealogy buff, she savors time spent with her family. Her other pastimes also include cooking and quilting. Various institutions in the United States have commissioned Shela’s highly favored work.

Hidden Gems, Oil Painting
By Onelio Marrero
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
Artist Onelio Marrero presents an impressionist piece exploring ponds, koi, and goldfish—part of his ongoing series focusing on freshwater fauna. "Koi and Goldfish are considered lucky because, despite their bright colors attracting predators, they have useful survival instincts," shares Onelio. These fish take advantage of reflections of the sky and trees on the water's surface to hide from predators. Onelio capitalizes on the effects of the clear sky and silhouetted trees reflected on the pond to partially mask the exotic fish.

About the Artist
Artist Onelio Marrero paints impressionist city scenes of everyday life. He captures the romanticism of New York City, from the picturesque fountains in Central Park to a glistening city street on a rainy afternoon. He creates a sense of nostalgia and intimacy with his work, offering the feeling that you have visited this particular scene before. “Each play of light, each texture, and each movement of a figure can have a captivating effect on me,” says Onelio. He studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art where he mastered discerning color and values, giving his work a more spontaneous appearance. Onelio’s work is an appreciation for beauty in all of its greatest forms; nature, art, and people.
