Mimì Quilici Buzzacchi, born Emma Buzzacchi (Medole, 1903 - Rome, 1990)
Italian painter and engraver, belonging to a middle-class family and nephew of the Garibaldian doctor Giovanni Buzzacchi, Mimì moved to the province of Ferrara in 1920 and to the capital from 1929, following her marriage to the journalist Nello Quilici, from whom she will have the sons Folco and Vieri. Widowed due to the famous Tobruk plane crash, in which her husband died with all of Italo Balbo's crew, she moved to Rome in 1945.
Formed in a Ferrara environment and initially adhering to the values of the Novecento, her arrival at the Roman School, after the Second World War, coincides with the emergence of a new freedom of expression and a new tendency towards abstraction, generally centered on landscapes characterized by the presence of 'water.
