About the Item
This is a metaphor. It is pieces of other paintings I have done. The rocks are closeups of the rivers and streams on Dartmoor where is spent my childhood. The deck and the house, the summers on the outer banks. The composition comes from a conversation about how I interact with my past. If the house is me now. Hopefully stable and even with a solid horizontal floor, albeit with a few repairs needed. And the stilts are the boundaries and years past since the my childhood, the ground. The rocks and the shifting sands of my first years here; my childhood. Then just beyond that, lapping at my toes is the ocean. The primeval past.
