About the Item
"Octopus" Oil painting 33" x 26" inch by Alina Shimova
PURE SOUL series
Shimova cares about the conservation of the fauna. She draws public attention to the problems of animals, especially wild and endangered species. Shimova is Vice-president of the Union of Animal Artists.
Shimova painted the series of paintings «Pure Soul» to remind people of the spiritual purity of animals and their close connection with nature and inner harmony. These works are an attempt to say that animals are full-fledged inhabitants of the planet just like us.
In her opinion, animals cannot be used as a resource. Senseless killings cannot be justified. It’s time for humanity to say «thank you» to animals.
ABOUT
Alina Shimova is a young and ambitious artist from Moscow, Russia.
Her creative journey began at an early age. Alina entered an art school at the age of 12, where she studied classical art for five years.
That time she was drawn to Russian classics, especially Aivazovsky and his magnificent seascapes. She was fortunate to study under the supervision of the famous modern artist - M. A. Satarov, whose works displayed in the Kremlin.
With her classical paintings, Alina participated in many group exhibitions, and now many of her works are in private collections of Russian and European art collectors.
In 2018, Alina traveled to the United States. This journey fundamentally changed the young artist's perception of modern art and determined her further artistic direction.
American classics have become a compass on the way to a new, unique artistic style. She was inspired by its spirit of freedom and willingness to break the rules, create new horizons, and express their imagination.
One of the major artistic trends of modern American art, gender equality, was utterly astonishing to Alina. The concept of a powerful woman is deeply rooted in popular American culture: novels, comics, movies, and TV series. They tell us that there is no distinction between male and female characters, everyone can save the world.
This was the defining element of Alina's new creative style. Since then, her creative journey has centered on the cult heroines influenced by the world of wonder and DC films: you can see them brilliantly depicted in Alina's drawings, in flowing color, but not in the typical costumes of the saviors of humanity.
Therefore, Alina wants to communicate her own emotions that there is a living human under any superhero costume, a woman who can be powerful on the outside and weak on the inside, have courage, but also fears, be a creator and destroyer.
