About the Item

Cheval 369 Licorne Acrylic on Canvas 50 x 61 cm Cheval 369, Licorne is a striking original painting by contemporary French artist Grégoire Mathias. This piece is the ninth in a captivating series inspired by the legendary Lascaux Horses, the prehistoric cave paintings located in Périgord, France—where the artist resides and draws his inspiration. Using a unique cubist style and earthy tones, Mathias reinterprets the iconic equine figures of ancient art into a modern abstract composition. The acrylic on canvas showcases bold geometric shapes, dynamic movement, and a palette reminiscent of natural ochres, browns, and yellows, evoking the timeless beauty of the Lascaux caves. Perfect for: Collectors of cubist art, abstract equine paintings, or pieces with a connection to historical and cultural themes, Cheval 369, Licorne seamlessly blends heritage with contemporary aesthetics. This artwork is ideal for modern interiors or gallery collections seeking pieces that are both visually striking and rich in historical significance. Themes: Cubist horse painting, abstract equine art, Lascaux-inspired painting, Greg Mathias, French contemporary artist, acrylic on canvas, Périgord art, geometric abstraction, prehistoric art inspiration, modern French art. About the Artist: Grégoire Mathias, graduate of the National School of Fine Arts in Paris (ENSBA - École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), is exhibiting his work at Sotheby's gallery in Périgueux, as well as in several galleries across Paris, New York, and Dublin. Mathias is the creator of diachronic cubism, an unexplored branch of cubism that depicts landscapes, interiors, everyday life scenes, and, most notably, the concept of time itself. This unique style is characterized by the deconstruction of subjects and light over specific periods of time. Since 2020, he has been designing UN posters through the World Federation for the United Nations Associations (WFUNA), becoming the first French artist to contribute to the organization after Picasso, Chagall, Miró, and Vasarely.

Spirit Horse ll
By James Koskinas
Located in East Hampton, NY
James Koskinas_ Not framed. Does not need to be framed. This large scale painting of a head hints at Picasso. Both technically accomplished and classically approached, the thick gestural brushstrokes add a fragmented & tactile character to the canvas. Warm palette juxtaposed against cool gray background. This comes stretched and ready to hang. Message me for shipping quote About the artist: James Koskinas, born in Terre Haute...
